Home sauna quiz: which sauna fits you?

We may earn a commission if you buy through brand links on this page. It does not change what we write. How this works.

Six questions about where it goes, how you like the heat, who uses it and what your wiring allows. We match your answers to published specs from the brands we cover.

Question 1

Where will the sauna go?
What kind of heat do you want?
How many people will usually use it at once?
What electrical work are you willing to do?
How much floor space can it take?
Anything you would like to have? Pick any, or none

How the quiz picks

The quiz works from the same spec tables as our guides: seat counts, exterior sizes and power requirements as each brand publishes them. It first drops anything that cannot work for you, such as a hardwired 240V heater when you only have a 120V outlet, or a cabin wider than the space you have. What is left is ranked by how close the seat count is to your group (an oversized sauna takes longer to heat and costs more to run) and by the extras you picked. The first three results come from different brands where possible, so you can compare.

It does not rank quality. We have not tested these saunas, and we do not score them. Use the results as a shortlist, then read each brand's spec sheet, warranty and delivery terms.

Frequently asked questions

How does the sauna quiz choose models?

It removes every model that does not fit your answers on placement, heat type, seats, wiring and floor space, using the figures each brand publishes. It then ranks what is left by how closely the seat count matches your group and by the extras you asked for, and shows one model per brand first so you can compare.

Does the quiz rank saunas by quality?

No. We have not tested these saunas and we do not score them. The quiz only matches published specs to your space, wiring and group size. Read the brand's spec sheet and warranty before you buy.

Why do some models never show up?

If a brand does not publish a figure the quiz needs, such as exterior size or seat count, the model is left out when that answer matters. You can still find it in the brand tables on our brand pages.

Can I run a traditional sauna on a normal outlet?

Not the ones we list. Every traditional sauna in our tables needs a dedicated 240V circuit, usually hardwired by an electrician. Many infrared cabins plug into a dedicated 120V 20A outlet instead.
